TWFC Autumn 2010 Championship

TWFC Autumn 2010 Championship

Congratulations to Grant Riddall on winning the Autumn 2010 TWFC championship.

4 Feature race wins along with 7 Sprint race wins (including 4 double victories) Grant dominated the championship this season winning by a clear margin of 129 points, thus collecting the Gold, fantastic performance, fully deserved.

2nd placed driver is Nik Babin with 631 points. Joining the championship series after round 1 Nik did give Grant a good run for his money in a few of the races, and won two feature races and two sprint races, congratulations Nik, very well done and good luck for next season.

3rd placed driver is Rouke vd Hoek on 583 points, a string of 2nd, 3rd and 4th places from Rouke was just enough to seal the 3rd spot in the championship standings, getting a win proved very very difficult and would have made all the difference in achieving the 2nd place spot but once again consistent good points hauls from events ensured 3rd spot in the championship table-well done Rouke.

TWF1-Autumn 2010 Championship

TWF1 Autumn 2010 Championship

Congratulations to Rouke vd Hoek on winning the Autumn 2010 TWF1 championship-successfully defending his TWF1 title from the previous season.

A gritty, determined all round performance from Rouke, his season got off to a fairly good start at the opening round  in Jerez in F1 71 finishing 3rd. Then came the controversial Imola and he managed 8th place but went a lot better at round 3 at Fundidora to come home in 2nd. The last round of the F1 71 at Road Atlanta was a disaster as he was involved in a collision with another driver and was only able to finish way down the order in 19th. The next half of the season was with the GP79 cars which kicked off at Kyalami and after a 1st lap off fought his way up through the field and take a very credible 5th, things started to get better for the next couple of races whereby Rouke put in a 4th and a 2nd at Paul Ricard and Hockenheim respectively, which meant he was virtually two hands on the trophy come Hachioji, his nearest rival, in fact the only one driver who could take the title was John Wallace-albeit a small chance-never the less still possible. Rouke could not compete at Hachioji due to technical problems which meant John had to win the race however, John also succumbed to tecnichal problems whilst in the race which in turn ensured Rouke took the crown. Quite a tense and exciting season this one.

Congratulations Rouke.

2nd place goes to the John Wallace, who had a chance at taking the title in the last race but it did not work out, overall a great determined performance from John and whilst tied on points with Bret, countback results gave John the nod and ensured him of 2nd place-well done.

3rd placed driver is Bret Metcalf. consistent finishing inside the top 10 paid off, good job.

TWF1 Autumn 2010 – Round 8 – Hachioji Race Report and Results

Hachioji – 8th and final round of the TWF1 Autumn 2010 season. With both Drivers and Team Championships still on the line, the event promised to be an exciting one. The Hachioji would prove to be as challenging as it looked, it’s undulating terrain coupled with high speed areas made for a good mix for all cars. The weekend would also start and end on a somewhat controversial note, but in the end it had no bearing on either Championship.

With Drivers Championship points leader Rouke vd Hoek noticably abscent from the race, Lotus 79 driver Nigel Metcalf took control of the weekend, snatching up both the race pole and his first TWF1 victory. But at race end, neither Nigel Metcalf or points chaser John Wallace’s efforts would be enough to notch down Rouke vd Hoek from the title. His second TWF1 Championship in a row, vd Hoek clearly adds his name to the Legends Honor Roll as a repeat Champion. John Wallace and Bret Metcalf would finish tied in second while early points leader Grant Riddall and Paul Langford finish tied in third.

In the Team Championship, GP Racing drivers Grant Riddall and Paul Langford would score enough points at the Hachioji event to claim this seasons crown, with Equipe BOUS drivers John Wallace and Ralph Maiph taking second place and F.A.S.T drivers Bret Metcalf and Larry Thomas finished third.

A hardy congratulations to all of this season’s Champions and an added congratulations to all TWF1 drivers for yet another outstanding season. We look forward to seeing you all again in the Spring for another great season of GP79 racing!
