V 1.81 of the ASR 1992 mod is VERY good
Gents,
I know ideas were kicked around when the V1.80 came out and I think it was ultimately decided to wait and see.
It was quite a bit slower and a bit harder to drive.
Well the V1.81 is in my view a clear step forwards in physics from the V1.70.
It has none of those vague corner entry feelings of the V1.80.
Front end feels more positive than the V1.70. Which while it is great ASR admit it was in physics terms more of a placeholder for them. I believe it used the ISI Indycar physics.
So the updated version has great feel overall, I ran a race in Interlagos and it was brilliant.
In sheer lap time it is faster than 1.80 but just a touch slower than V1.70.
Anyway I know you will drive it and form your own view. I'm just suggesting that it is well worth a look now.
Some might say "dont change horses in mid stream" but on the other hand it is an "update" not a completely different car and its a long season. and F1 cars get updates no?
Its more what ASR intended.
Have a look and check it out.
Cheers

Yes David, the 1.81 is a another step forward, it seems good.
I suggest we have a discussion about the 1.81 mod at the half way point in the season - after Round 5. It is a different situation this time around, we need to look at the mod, but also place equal value I would say on the fact that people have invested a lot of time in figuring out setups with 1.70, which I think is equally valid reason to stay with 1.70 even if 1.81 is better, let us see how the drivers feel.
So after Round 5 Shanghai, I will put up a server with 1.81 for the first week of practice after that. Also, providing technical issues do not prevent it, next week I will put up the Shanghai server with BOTH both mods, 1.70 and 1.81 so you will need both mods to get in server. Lets see first if that works or not

I would love to reply but not sure if i screw up installation with two version of the mod.
Also, i don't think setting up the car is an issue, is it?
Maybe for the slower guys but, just ask for a setup, i am sure someone will help u.
Does the 1.81 has lesser grip?
I am not f1 driver but,
Maybe there is a bit to much grip in 1.7 imo.
Although i like how u can manage the drift (destroy tires) and keep control.
That, but a little less grip, or DF on the wings, something like that.
I think its OK to upgrade mid season as long as it's an upgrade and working, and the cars dont become undriveable.
Actually i am kinda looking forward to see how the new version drives.

That sounds like a good plan.SteveC wrote:Yes David, the 1.81 is a another step forward, it seems good.

People will form their own view.
Set up wise I think that it is (unlike V1.80) very similar to V1.70. Needing a touch more wing at Sao Paulo and that was about all.
Setting it up (and driving it) was helped by the front end having IMO inherently more feel and progressive feedback than the V1.70.
There are of course faster guys in this mod than me but it (1.81) seemed to me easier to have on the limit. Whereas V1.70 has huge grip, then quite suddenly its gone.
Looking forwards to hearing what the podium guys feel about it.
It caused no issues for me having both installed BTW.

F1 1992 Mod is a LE version, but who want the Franky's update Historic Edition, download and install also the 1.865 add-on.
...As in truly different physics per chassis?

Re: V 1.81 of the ASR 1992 mod is VERY good
Did a little digging and it looks as though this "historic" edition update is not a physics update. Instead the author has tweaked the talent files to reflect speed differences between teammates and other drivers. It makes the mod look more realistic in an AI race environment, but for online racing it looks like the physics are still equal among all cars. Gonna give v1.86 a go now...Rick Stratton wrote:...As in truly different physics per chassis?

v1.865 vs. v1.81
Can't say as I see much differences, would need to really dig into the technical details. Would be nice if ASR would publish what exactly they've updated. Anyway, still a very nice mod. Much more forgiving than v1.70 to be sure, and given the choice between the two I might be inclined to choose 1.865 over 1.70.
