2012 ANNUAL DONATIONS APPEAL - IMPORTANT PLEASE READ

Well before I make the usual annual appeal let me first of all belated thank all of you who generously donated to our Annual Legends League Donation Appeal last year, where we just about raised enough money to meet our annual commitments and maintain a small but real cushion of funds for any unforeseen circumstances to ensure we keep our league's survival on solid ground. We had 21 of you make the effort to kindly donate to our cause and between them we raised an excellent £387.13, which was not far short of our annual expenditure for our Race Server and our Web site Hosting service and domain registration. Many thanks to you guys, you know who you are. Without you our sim racing league could not exist, so we are extremely grateful to you and for your continued loyal support to Legends League.

So yes now it is once again that time of year when I become so very appealing and make our annual appeal for voluntary donations from our members towards the cost of running this amazing and very special Legends League. It is right now that we ask you to kindly dip ever so slightly into your deep pockets before you spend it all over Christmas, and find at least some loose change. All in return for the great fun and excitement we hope we have given you all year. By all means please read on as that does at least make me feel my writing efforts were worthwhile , but for a quick easy method to donate then just click HERE and follow the simple instructions.

We must though strongly emphasise that Legends League is a free sim racing league and will remain so well into the foreseeable future, so as mentioned above this is a completely voluntary contribution request that we make each and every year. These donations enable us hopefully to help fund the excellent Team7 servers, which we use as the Legends rFactor Race Servers, and indeed also towards our own website and domain running costs. Team7 provide our race servers, club and practice servers and do so completely free of any formal charge, for which we are extremely grateful to them and their support of our league. However, the cost of running these servers is considerable of course, and thus we ask for your contributions so we can in all fairness donate several hundred Euros to them each year to go towards their formidable expenses.

So PLEASE NOTE, you can if you so wish continue to race totally free of any charges in our uniquely very special Legends League. Sure we fully understand and appreciate that some of you are rich fat caps, some poor old git pensioners, a few poverty ridden students, and of course the majority who are just penniless drop outs and p*ss artists But even a few odd Euros/Pounds/Dollars will help.

Donations can be of any amount you wish in Sterling, Euros or US Dollars (Sterling or Euros much preferred as our outgoings are just in both these currencies) but for all those who make a contribution of at least £10 or €12 or US$16 you will also receive your very own free and prestigious <your name>@legends-league.com POP3 and password protected e-mail account, that is if you have not already got one. If you do make a donation then please also ensure that you send an e-mail to admin@legends-league.com with the subject "LEGENDS DONATION" giving details of your contribution. You should also, where appropriate, state your preferred Legends e-mail account user name e.g. <fred>@legends-league.com. We will NOT publicly disclose the names of those who do make donations, this will be strictly known only to core HQ staff as we do NOT want to put any pressure whatsoever on our members to make contributions to this fund. So now for the easy method to donate :-

If you are logged in as a registered member, on the top right of the website home page you will see a "Donate" link [or just click HERE]. If you open that link you will find a page with details of the donation scheme and how to make your payment. Underneath the text you will see the "Donate" button which once pressed will lead you to the PayPal page where you can either pay using your PayPal account OR by Credit Card (most types accepted). This Donation link with the easy to use "Donate" button will remain a permanent feature on our website so you can donate at any time of year. However we have to meet our annual disbursements early in the new year, so this month we are being particularly appealing. All donations will be privately acknowledged by PM or e-mail and where appropriate your legends-league.com e-mail account will be opened for you, so please ensure you receive an acknowledgement within a few days of making payment.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

Some of you have reported a problem in using the PayPal Donate Button on our Donations page and indeed we had hit a technical problem. However please note that this has now been resolved and you can now once again easily make your donations by simply hitting the Donate Button and completing the simple required information. It really is very easy and straightforward so don't be shy and dig deep to find at least some loose change to donate to our very special Legends League.

Without your support we could not exist and thus the reason we make our annual appeal to your generosity. We can then make 2013 an even better Legends League sim racing year.

WE NEED SOME MORE DONATIONS FOLKS

Okay many thanks to all who have donated so far and some very generous donations too. We rely on you guys to keep this league alive and well.

Anyhow the time is getting near where we have to meet our annual commitments so if you have not already donated and have been meaning to then please take a simple couple of moments to do so as soon as you can. Every penny / cent counts so even if it is just the odd £5 or €5 it will really help our cause.

Okay a timely update.

Since the start last month of this year's annual donations appeal, we have raised just over £336 plus €20 so about £353 in all from just 14 loyal Legends active members who have kindly made the effort and donated some very large and some relatively small amounts to help keep our league alive and running. We fully appreciate that even a small donation can be a relatively big outlay for many of you during these hard times, so every penny or cent is fully and gratefully welcomed.

I have today, under authority from Legends HQ, paid as we do every year, most of this year's appeal donations to the T7 server owners who thanks to their tremendous support make their excellent servers available for our rFactor and rFactor2 races. They in turn wish to convey their appreciation on to all of you who have made the effort and already donated to Legends League and made this all possible.

Okay we still have further disbursements next month to meet our website hosting and domain registration fees, so all in all I calculate that this year's appeal donations fall short by about £55 over what we ideally require So we will, at this point in time, have to eat into our small reserves which we try to retain as a contingency for unforeseen emergencies (like for example the T7 servers going down and our having to find and pay for the use of a temporary fall back server). It would be kind of nice if we could have at least raised enough this year to cover our basic annual commitments and thus to retain our healthy though small reserve.

So the message is to remind you all that you can donate at any time of the year, not just during the end of year appeal. So if you had been intending to make a donation, now is the time to make it, however small, as it will all help to keep our league healthy and solvent.

Once again from Legends League HQ, the T7 server owners and indeed myself, a big thank you to all who have already made a much appreciated donation; they know who they are and they have all been personally thanked too.

As Ray explained, around this time of year we look for donations sufficient to cover the League's server and website costs. Actually based upon past history well over half of all donations are made by your admin team, but literally anything which anyone can donate to help is much appreciated.

Our costs vary a bit by season, but they average out to around 15 euros per driver per year. For such a small amount there are four seasons (32 events) of well balanced and well adminned racing (we like to think!), multiple off-season events, stewards to whip your ass, and our lovely forums here to bask in your racing glories.

On behalf of all drivers I can say our sincere thanks to those who have already donated, and if anyone does feel generous and could think of helping support Legends League, any donations would be much appreciated. Just go to the main website, log-in, then click the "Donate" button on the top right. Euros, Pounds, Dollars, doubloons whatever - the main thing is your support, which is very gratefully received.
