Welcome to the Legends League TWF1 Spring 2013 Championship! The TWF1 season kicks off on Sunday, February 17th, 2013.
Within these pages you will find the information needed regarding the season format, the tracks we will be racing, the handicapping system, the teams championship which will be running alongside the drivers championship. Most importantly, you will find out specific information on the GP 79 League Edition that we will be using, along with our customized option and damage file which must be installed.
There is a substantial amount of information to take in so please grab a beer, glass of wine or cup of coffee and take the time to understand what will be happening. At the very least you need to know:
Season Format
TWF1 will run 8 Championship races with the Grand Prix 79 League Edition.
GP79 League Edition Mod -Each chassis is modelled differently in both engine and chassis handling. We will again be using our Legends Leauge modified damage and options file which must be installed. This file can be easily removed at any time so that you can use this install on outside servers. Changes from the standard GP79 LE mod are:
Tire Wear - Fuel Usage - Parc Ferme
Tire wear remains at [6x]. The decision also remains, soft compound or hard compound. The choice is yours! Softs will last longer than what X6 would suggest however, they do wear more than the hards so planning your pace, set up of the car just becomes more of a part of your preparation! Prepare well and you will be rewarded, don't prepare so well then who knows the consequences.
Fuel usage is NORMAL. This strategy will again force drivers to consider; pit stop or no pit stop?
Parc Ferme will remain but has been revised for this season meaning that: You will now be able to select and use qualifying tyres & change fuel amounts. For those of you unfamiliar with the term or concept, Parc Ferme simply means that once your Qualifying session begins [you've posted an official laptime in Qualifying], you will no longer be allowed to alter your setup until the race begins.
Essentially the idea is to adopt a race tactic. With the tire wear settings at 6X and the fuel at Normal, it really forces one to decide on either a no-stop or 1 stop strategy both in terms of fuel and tires. You could go non-stop but it means a pretty heavy fuel load and the tires would see pretty severe degradation by race end, and thus higher laptimes. Of course, the price paid is the time in the pits. *Once the race begins, you can still adjust your pit stop strategy but it's strictly on the fly as allowed by rFactor.
Handicapping
Success Ballast system will remain the same as last season, that is cumulative and reduced with certain finsihing order criteria along with keeping our traditional GP79 chassis handicapping.See the handicapping information page for more details.
Grid Sizes
Big grid sizes can be lots of fun. But they can greatly increase the chances of race destroying accidents in the early laps which are very frustrating to those caught up in them. A maximum grid size of 32 drivers per race.
Team Championship
We hope that as many of you as possible will form a team with another driver this season.
Club Races-A more relaxed affair
The week leading up to a Sunday TWF1 Championship race meeting, we have what is referred to as "Club Races" on Thursday & Saturday (times stipulated on the right hand side of the main page). This is an ideal opportunity to join the server, meet and race with other drivers, exchange set ups, advice and views. Most importantly though are the actual fun races that will take place. These races (not full race distance) run through the full race sequence, in other words, they are a dress rehearsal for the upcoming Sunday championship race which is the "real deal", after practice you will qualify, warm up and then enter the grid, complete the formation lap, position your car in your grid slot THEN wait for the Green light to start the race and away you go. All members, from veterans to rookies always learn something new during the club days.
Also, to help attract new members, the club days are open to guests who are looking to join our league. No password is necessary, all you need is rFactor v1.255, the GP79 Mod V2.01 available from www.rFactorcentral.com and our Customized file.
Season Registration
Drivers will need to register for the championship in order to particpipate.
Car Skins etc
Although certainly not mandatory we would very much like as many of you as possible to customise your car. It was a pleasure to see so many great liveries on the track last season and we hope for this to continue. Check the TWF1 Forum for more information regarding skins.
