Need a bigger avatar

Post by Leo »

How do you guys (Baz!) do it?

I want to change my avatar for a nice pic of the Cortina, but at 80x80 pixels it's still 80 kb instead of the allowed 8 kb.
And why only 80x80? Baz's avatar must be a lot bigger than that, so how did he do that? And what is the maximum space for an avatar?

You have to host it else where, like imageshack or photobucket.

Leo, The way you can bypass the size limitation is to host your avatar on another website and simply "link" to your avatar [from the forum control panel] instead of "uploading" it.

Leo, all and everything is in your profile, there you find also how large an Avatar is allowed to be, it`s 6kb file size and 80x80px if I remember correctly

time for you own webspace maybe?

I linked all and everything from my own webspace this is why my Avatar is larger as well, also the image in the sig is linked from my webspace

Ok, thanks. I'll ask Mark to host this one for me too.

Petra, what's the pixel size of your JC avatar?

correct and it`s 23.5 KB (24062 Bytes) file size

so Leo, I hardly can believe that your little Avatar 80x80px you want to put online has 80kb (!!!) size??? Huch?? Did you use Photoshop quality 12 for that image or how does that come?

I can host your Sig and Avatar image as well, your trout fishing sig is gone btw, what happened to the image?

tip: if you want to find out how large and at what file size an image is: right-click with the mouse on it and look at "Eigenschaften" (German Dialog) or maybe "property(ies)" in the English dialog what ever it`s called there, you know what I mean

what? can`t believe that ... you make it looking as if there is an error with a missing image, so why not editing your sig and deleting that URL plain and simple?
sigh, men and computers

Sorry Leo missed this, of course every one is right, you have to host the picture somewhere and link to it. I have Picassa a free photo package from Google and it is great for keeping your pictures on your PC tidy and you also get free web album storage of 1024mb.
Picassa is HERE
This is my public gallery (no porn sorry) HERE
