What to do if i get disconnected?

Post by MarkF »

What to do if you get disconnected from a race.

1- Usually you will notice a few seconds before a disconnection that all the cars have disappeared from the HUD for track positions at your bottom left of screen, wait until you get the Lost Connection message as they sometimes all re-appear by magic.

2- If you are disconnected you will be back at the join screen in rFactor. It might pay to see if any other drivers are shown in the rFactor chat box at the bottom right of screen, if so advise them of this procedure.

3- To confirm how many have been disconnected, go to the web site and click on "Live Scoring!" at the top of the screen. Then click on Server 1 or Server 2 and check if drivers are shown as racing or in the pits. If most are still racing it looks like it will be the end of your evening, if shown in the pits, or a different session to race is shown see 4.

4- The HQ preferred way of communicating in a mass disconnection is using Team Speak, (there are instructions for setting this up HERE) you should join and announce your presence, but please listen and don't interrupt as HQ will be very busy trying to rectify the situation.

5- HQ will endeavour to restart, cancel or announce a result depending on how many laps have been completed. (see HERE)

6- If the race has not been restarted within 30 minutes of the disconnection it will be cancelled.

7- The race will not be restarted until 15 minutes have elapsed since the disconnection unless all drivers have rejoined and are ready to go. Watch chat very closely, it would help if chat were kept to a minimum during this time so announcements are clear for all to see.

It is every drivers responsibility to rejoin the server as soon as possible, HQ might not be able to re run the race at a later date so it is very important that you try to rejoin.

8- If you keep getting timed out joining the usual way, it is your responsibility to join using the Direct IP method.
Go to TWF1 Server Password or TWF3 Server Password on the web page and make a note of the IP address for your server. Then go to the join screen in rF and click on the Blue Plus sign at the top of the page. (You can Alt Tab between screens) Enter the IP address exactly, then the password, you should then get the track loading screen and be ready to restart the race.

If not its good night Irene. :(
