Hi,

so I take it, no change for me? I'm missing on the list. :)

I used my second car (Lotus 80) for LeMans, and I think a couple of other people did. What's the point if it doesn't help your speed? In theory, the first and second cars should be so close to each other that the track characteristics matter more than the supposed "better" car.

Ciao,
Antonio

Maybe we should have to use both cars, why not have it so we have to run each at alternate races? :byehi:
I can see the idea for some, but for others (myself included) it would be a problem to make a new setup to ensure a safe handling car. Usually the 2nd car drives worse than the 1st. Furthermore the 2nd car wouldn't have a custom livery which would be boring and tougher to ID who's near you.

I'm faster on the Ligier overall, but on some tracks I still prefer the #27 Ferrari, which is my favourite car.

So, it works for me :-)

Hi,
I know I swapped down recently, (lotus to brabham)

If I was allowed to swap up to Ligier or Fw07, perhaps Grant and Co. might get some added competition? maybe

No problem if not. Lauda's car is hella fun.
But I sure do miss driving that #27 car

DaveM

Hi David, :)
If we took the view to assign a faster car to you then that means we must also assign faster cars to everyone else (other than the aliens). It would not take long for peeps to get frustrated as we have experienced that in seasons gone by. :)

Quote:
Vadim-There is no obv. reason to take a BT49 over a 79. So basiclly i get a useless car as 2nd choice (specially with weight).

Sometimes there are cases were it is actually better to take the 2nd chassis.

Regarding the weight-That being the key-You have earned the weight through being successful, it’s an achievement for you Vadim, :) it can also be a bit of a pain ofcourse as your pace is (supposedly) compromised-that’s the whole point-to balance out the field.

Quote:
Front 12 cars most likely will be lotus and mclaren with these changes. Bring some color in!

I tend to agree with you but that’s why we have skins to bring in a bit of colour. :)

Quote:
Sure, there is a few good cars, anyways, took ages to get used to the ferrari...and I am really not giving this car away without protest.

(enormous efforts to stay top 8 )
Don't forget, this is my first half year with a racing sim. Duh.

For sure we recognize the fact that you have worked hard in the Ferrari Vadim, :) just like David Faria has in the Ligier too, to get where you are, confidence is up, pace is up. If anything when a driver is assigned a lower car it is, or should be, recognized as an achievement.

I know I know, little kid screaming for sweets xD

Lol-Not at all-I did not take it that way mate

Quote:
In case this change really applies, I d like to swap the BT49 for the BT 48.

That’s fine-I will update the listing. :)

In General:
I do not want to come across as if I know it all btw. The overall objective is to balance the field out, regulate (within reason)driver’s pace and keep that relative to others in the same car or skill level. :) To help achieve this we have the different performance cars available and also the success weight system that we use.

The other side of the scale-take the likes of Nik/Grant/Damir/Risto/Pablo and look at it from their perspective-they will never get to drive a car higher than the Mclaren M29, at least not in the current format we run, they are stuck there with no chance of a faster car, there are a number of challenges for them , keeping motivated is the main one, try to manage and drive with their weight which has been assigned to the lowest car out of the range we are using, along with keeping ahead of their opponents.

For the next race (still has to be checked) the weights will be:

Grant 35kg M29/BT48
Damir 45kg M29/BT48
Nik 25kg M29/BT48
Pablo 20kg M29/BT48
Risto 30kg M29/BT48
Simon 10kg Lotus 79/M29
Vadim 15kg Lotus79/BT49

So let's see how it goes, many a time I have thought how do the aliens still get to be up front despite having some fairly heavy weight on board, in the past I know Grant has adopted a different strategy (when his weight has been above 40kg I think) by doing 2 pitstops instead of one. He really has to earn it, no mistakes/no spins, keep it on track and push like hell for ALL of the race-I suspect that is were he gets his motivation/challenge? Grant? :)

Regards,
Bret

As Bret says, the point of the car allocation and the weight is to get the racing close, and to keep the challenge for everyone. Every driver is moved a little closer to the driver in front - the result is the aliens really have to work to earn their victories, and everyone else is that bit closer, and in with a chance when/if the driver ahead stumbles.

The alternative is we all drive FW07s - that way we all get to see Grant much more often, waving to him as he laps us :) Less challenge for everyone.

Getting a lower car allocation really should be a badge of honour. Sure it's nice to drive the higher cars, but also nice to be recognised as quick enough to step into the next category.

John

I actually take it all back.

I insist on having a T4 till the end of the season since the Cosworth cars feel like garbage to be honest.
