I think both the 67 and 71 are not as superior as 79. the 1st two are just too easy to drive in comparison to the 79.
It took me 3 laps to get to grips with a new track, Estoril with the same setup as I used at Oulton, just changed the gearing, and 3 laps in I was running my best times within 1 - 1.5 secs. It always takes me a lot longer than that with 79. I also find that I can run very close times no matter (within reason) what my setup is.Change the setup and it feels different but I still run similar times, setup changes don't seem to alter things as much as they do in 79s.

If rF 2 comes out, that will be the time to discuss swapping to that. You may as well talk about what you're gonna do when you win the lottery. How long has rF2 be coming out?...... I'm not holding my breath.

I agree with you simon, the way you can drive these 71 feels a bit arcade-ish but I never driven a 71 F1 nor a 79 so I can't really say if they really use to drift that easily back in the days ... drove the rs01 after 1 week of intensive 71 and man that was hard, I was spinning all over ... clearly the 79 mod is superior and much more subtile, you've got to earn your drift

As current f1 1967 champ I was hoping to come back and defend the title. These cars are easy enough to drive and the lack of wings makes setting them up rather less complicated, ideal for a 'fun' series

The 1971 mod is lots of fun but I get the sense that so soon after its release it is still fizzy with novelty-factor. The chaps at SRT included it in their latest show (http://www.insidesimracing.tv/) as one of their alltime top-sim cars but expressed reservations about the tyre-physics, seemingly with the view that patches would be following shortly.

I would hope to stick with the 1979 mod which is widely trusted and the handicap system is fairly well calibrated now.

Did we?

I don't recall doing it by popular demand, I thought we had not enough TWF1 racers at that time to run 2 separate servers.

If you ask me, I would go back to GP79 D1 + GP79 D2 and scrap both the '67s and the '71s :cheesy:

Actually i think they did because i've seen a few videos of drivers of the time refering the slide and smoothness on it as the key

Watch as Jackie Stewart advises you to start accelerating before the apex, this should help the car torquesteer which works on these cars.

And shall the GP79's reign rfactor until the end of times! .. or at least till' RF2 comes out

GP79's IMO are much more difficult and technical than the 71's or 67's. There are a bunch of different chassis to play with. How you setup the car is key. It's not only tweaking the wings and suspension, you gotta make it all work together for the ground effects. If you wanna be fast you have to drive them hard, but to drive them hard you must master them first. This is my favorite rfactor mod and I wouldn't want it to go away. There's a reason why people keep using it after all this time right?

Just sharing my insight.
Cheers.

79's are great, the 71's are great and I hate the 67's but never really tried them.

I've always said I'd like a more modern F1 mod, in fact it was MMG2007LE that Legends ran at Magny in summer 08 that got me here.

So 1979 F1 or 1971 F1 and CTDP 2009 or 2006 or whatever.....Yeah!

But any mod can be made more fun with fuel stratagies and/or parc ferme :D

That's what you get from me - a considered opinion ;)

I just prefer more modern F1, but the 88's (or Armadillo) are my vote. Obviously I'd love to run a 2006> mod.

I suck at whatever I try anyway, so matters not :p
